When A Seed Falls

"I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." -John 12:24

We received word last night. A seed had fallen to the ground.

I share today in mourning, in hope, in faith, looking to the harvest and asking you to join me in prayer.

Our family served in YWAM as missionaries, having the privilege of traveling and sharing Jesus in Kenya at the Athi River base. Early Friday morning, this base was attacked.

The Kremer family, Ebel and Lora with their precious children appear to have been the target of the attack. Thieves broke into their home on the YWAM base and Ebel, a missionary from Holland, was killed.

Ebel had a vision to build 12 large homes for the unwanted and neglected children of Kenya. These homes would be occupied by a mom and dad who would care for 12 children as their own, raising them with love and hope. His dream began as the first house was completed and the 2nd is in process. Ebel left a legacy of obedience, generosity, love and laid down his life for his Jesus.

Will you grab hands with me today and pray. Pray for Lora and their small children. Pray for all of those serving at the Athi River base. Pray for Ebel's vision. That what the enemy meant to destroy by killing, would surpass even Ebel's dreams. That the seed that fell to the ground would produce a harvest. A harvest of Kenyan children being raised in hope, in Jesus, walking in the ultimate love.

"I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."
- John 12: 24-26

Oh Sara...this is just heartbreaking. Of course I will pray with you - that the Father would bring good out of what we can hardly fathom; for the comforter to fill this precious family with the peace and love that comes from the heart of Jesus. I am so very sorry.

What a beautiful quote and promise to go with such a terrible and sad incident. Our prayers join yours for this families pain. The thought of such a greater good from such loss is more comforting to me now than it would have been earlier and will help me to help my kids appreciate god's love, and larger plan, even in difficult times.

My heart is hurting with this news. The world has gone mad, creation is groaning, groaning, groaning and I feel the groaning inside too...praying right now for the family, for YWAM, for the work in Kenya.

Oh Sarah, how this just brakes my heart! Ours prayers for Ebel's soul and for his wife & children to feel God's comfort. I will send this as a prayer request at our church as well.
He was doing such good work over there and for something so bad to happen. It is all in God's plan and some how something good will be of it because our loving and gracious Father wants nothing but good for his children.
I can't believe you were once at the place where this happened!
God's Blessings,
Lorie

I will join you in prayer for the family of this brother. I am so saddened to hear of their loss. May the Lord of all creation wrap His loving arms around them and comfort them as no one else can.
I am at a loss for words to express my admiration for this brave family to sacrifice so much for the gospel.
Blessings,
Cammy

Joining you in dancing praises to our King for taking Ebel Kremer home! And in sorrow for his family - praying for their strength and comfort. Awaiting the beauty and vision God will restore and continue to build for the people in Kenya! How glorious to be in the arms of Jesus, and yet for those who remain, how we long to be there, too! Dear Lord, let us all be willing to die in the service of our King! Lead us in your works!

thank you for sharing this, even tho it is hard to read.  The girls and I are home sick this morning, and spent some time in prayer for Lora and her children, and the mission work there.  May God multiply Ebel's work many times over, that those homes will still be built and open their doors.  We know that what those men men meant for evil, God meant for good.  We will keep praying that God will comfort you and all those who knew, loved, and depended on Ebel.
In Him, Mary

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with Lora and the
children, the YWAM base and all affected by this terrible loss. We
pray that God be glorified in the midst of this tragedy at that Ebel's
dream come to fruition and many, many Kenyan children come to live in
safety, love and to grow up knowing our Lord and Savior.

Heartbroken for Ebel's family and praying in faith that God would use this, even this, to reach many with the gospel and that some of his dreams and visions for the children of Kenya would be realized.
