PlayDoh Discipleship

oozing love and splattering joy as hands shape globs of colors into creations

Our foster experience has been one of the most adventurous journeys we have yet to experience as a family.  Learning to love unconditionally, both children and hurting biological parents, living out the gospel in our home, opening every aspect of our lives to be somehow used for His glory ... amazing training.

Honest here, this is hard.  We have loved on kids for years, all over the world, in some crazy hard places.  On the mission field, inner city classrooms, AIDS orphanages, churches, tribal village huts ...  Kids = my passion.

We have always believed that family is the most radical form of discipleship. Now we have the opportunity to live it.   Each and every day, we see little lives being shaped by His love.  Bumps smoothed out, in their lives and mine.

Like play doh.  Playdoh discipleship.

Oh, Sarah, PLAY DOH discipleship. The very thought captures my soul. And this-"We have always believed that family is the most radical form of discipleship."

Your short post will grip me LONG today. And I will pray for you and those lives beneath your roof-- that in the HARD, you'll find HOLY. And grace and hope. And all that you need for living out the gospel in the radical-family way!

THANK YOU for your wisdom here.

As someone who has a lot of bumps to smooth out, I love this thought.

Hi Sarah,
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet message. Kudos to you for fostering and your ministry. I pray that you're having a good night and feeling more uplifted. Keep on keepin' on doing the Lord's work before you and know that He sees you.

Sarah,
It was so nice to hear from you. I don't know how I lost touch with you, but I'm so glad you contacted me.
I will be delighted to share tomorrow (probably not until later in the day as we have to be out in the morning). I must tell you that normally I decline when asked to write about being a Mom. I don't feel I did it well. I failed in every imaginable way. Somehow God's amazing grace has done so much to redeem the mistakes of my past. I have often let those mistakes disqualify me from offering any sort of mentoring, but the Lord has been gently nudging me to rethink that.
So, yes, I'll link up my humble contribution. It will be the one I wrote just a short while ago. It's the one I really felt so strongly I had to write.
Thank you sweet girl. I am happy to "find" you again.

Precious. What a tremendously beautful, painfully accurate comparison.
