Gloppy Joy

Sometimes, you just gotta let go and get gloppy.

Beautiful day outside, scratch that, oh my goodness amazing day in May for this desert dweller.   Grabbing the joy and smashing it in our schedule, we pulled out the art table.  Literally.

Pulled it outside.  Plum filled it with every art medium we could find (washable art medium, I'm zany, not crazy).  And for the day we filled pictures.

Of course, we started with finger paint.  Yep I'm 37 and madly adore wiggling my index in finger paint.  When I'm 97, I'll still be giggling with gloppy fingers.

Squishing the paint.  Mixing the colors.  You cannot help but let go.  A picture will never turn out perfect.  It's not the perfection you are aiming for.  Its the joy in creating.

Wham.  Think the ahaaaa moment, sitting there with green and blue finger tips.  Momma, it's not perfection in raising you kids that you should be aiming for.  Its the joy in creating.

Maybe I need to get the finger paints out more often.  Maybe my kids need a momma that leaves paint all over their lives, gloppy finger painting joy.

Would you consider joining me today?  I would be honored.  I'm on a mom  journey to be refreshed, renewed, and rejuvenated.  And I could use you.  Your nuggets of wisdom.  Your failures turned glory.  Your story of anything mom.  A chorus.  A momma melody.

To join the melody, simply add your post (a new or old fave) to the link a thingie.

P.S. My link didn't work the first time, so I added it again. Sorry about that! It seems to work on the second one.

It is the joy of creating, indeed! I love that you're doing this and that I got to link up! I love your mama-heart, girl and the love that you share with your children for us all to see. Be blessed, dear friend.

I love the analogy Sarah. No...it will not be perfect, but there can be so much joy in the gloppy mess!

I'd love to finger paint with my little ones but they're no longer little, so I guess I'm going to have to wait for grandchildren, lol!

Thanks for the invite to link up. I just today saw it. Our Five Mom's blog is no longer active and no one has posted on it for a couple of years.

However my personal blog is still active. Hopefully I can remember to link up with you next week!

Do you have a meme button you want us to use for a courtesy link back to your blog? Or should we just use your Mama Notes button?

By the way, I have a Monday linky party called "Making Your Home Sing Monday" that you are welcome to link up with ME as well! ;)

I have thumbnails on mine so you can choose a picture from your blog post (so people can see what you're blogging about), or your profile picture or your button to put in your linky.

You know, I never was a fan of finger painting. I hate getting my hands dirty like that. We did other stuff, though, that had the same result as your finger painting.

It's a gorgeous day here in the Midwest, too. My granddaughter is napping upstairs but as soon as she's up, we're definitely doing something fun outside. It's too nice a day to waste.

I generally don't enjoy arts or crafts and getting my hands dirty, but recently I was parent of the day at my kid's preschool and I surrendered to it completely. It was SO therapeutic to get gloopy and dirty for five hours straight. I hope I always remember that. Thanks for introducing yourself today!

I love finger painting! It has been a while for us, though - I think it is time to dig them out again. (Outside painting is a great idea!)

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today - it is nice to meet you!

Thank you so much for finding me and pointing me in your direction. I will never forget the smell of finger paint from my childhood. Great memories of a freedom I often lose sight of as an adult! I can't wait to visit again soon...and thank so much for the link up invite! Many blessings to you! Love, Rachael
