Less Talk More Walk

A rock of stone, held gently in my fingers. Smooth. Perfect palm size. A gift from little fingers to momma. As I stare it seems to remind me, call me, challenge me, teach me.

In this life of loveprints, leaving marks of love on those around, we can grow cold. Cold as stone. So much talk. So much preaching. So much discussion and rhetoric on love. Talk does little.

Love is not a feeling. Love is not talk. Love is an action.

Returning to the well worn pages crinkled with use and colored deep with pen. I flip my fingers, the same ones that stroke the stone, to 1 Corinthians 13. A letter to me. A guide on the action of love.

With pen in hand and heart in mind, I write. The verses in action for me. Love is an action.

Love waits for the boys to tie shoes and get ready without rushing them and allowing hectic to creep in my tone.

Love always has only good to say, gentle to touch, no harshness anywhere.

Love never looks at what others may have. Rejoicing in the blessings showered upon me and being thankful ALWAYS.

Love keeps my mouth held quiet, tight. Not sharing my successes in a spotlight of my own. Sharing the highlights of others and ushering them into the kudos of others.

Love takes the time to ask questions, find out about their day instead of pushing my own need to talk adult in front of the line.

Love picks up the dirty clothes lying on the bathroom floor with a smile, over and over again. No grumbles on my lips. With a joyful step that for 13 years I have had his life with mine.

Love showers the truth and does a little dance when open hearts receive it.

Love defends my family, speaks only positive to others of them. Love proudly walks head held high beside my son when the task was too overwhelming, hand on his shoulder.

Love never gives up. No matter what the situation looks like.

Love always wins.

What action is love to you? Please take a moment and share and leave a loveprint for us all.

Love is an action; I agree. It would be so easy to give in to my feelings all too often. Love is being patient with others. Love is allowing the Lord to work in your loved one's heart and not intervening to make things happen. That only seems to get in the way of God working.

Love you,
Debbie

Love is a verb!! I have a tattoo of 1 John 3:18 and it reminds me to love, even when it's hard.

Sara,
Thank you for sharing about love today. We're moving this weekend and my focus has been entirely too much about what I need to do, how tired I am, how much work this is for me...etc. etc. You get the completely unlovely picture. I needed this reminder.

I'm following your blog now and I'm so excited to read more of your posts!

This is so tender and sweet Sara. I kept thinking, "and love is a choice."
For me love is shown in words of encouragement.

After the morning I had Sarah this post was written just for me. As you know LOVE to me is ONLY an action. Words are empty without a life filled with sacrifice!

Hugs and love to you my sweet friend! Praising God that His love is perfect, pure and holy!

Sarah,
What a beautiful post and a great reminder for all of us to harness those negative thoughts and bring them back to the glory of Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 10:5) What a wonderful blog. I hope you don't mind a "new friend."

Hugs for your day!
Celi

Beautiful post. Your words "In this life of loveprints, leaving marks of love on those around, we can grow cold. Cold as stone. So much talk. So much preaching. So much discussion and rhetoric on love. Talk does little." especially resonated with me. My husband is a pastor. Sometimes even in churches, even in the heart of a pastor's wife love can become just so much talk. Thanks for the fresh perspective. :)

Love is...so many things so much larger than my vocabulary and actions, but for today it is me, giving what I have, not expecting anything in return. satisfied by being who He is making me to be.
