Sharing with a Smile

Two babes, worlds apart, brought together by the love of Jesus. Saturday posts for me, a way to look back, remember, sort through old photos, bit and traces of memories, a heritage of all that God has done and doing. This photo grabbed me today and simply held on tight.

My little guy (the blond one) and his big brother packed up their toys in a huge dufflebag, filling to burst. Our destination, Kenya. They wanted to share their treasures with those who had little. During our outreach we shared Jesus in villages, bomas, orphanages, streets, and schools. We gave of ourselves. And my little one gave away all of his baby toys to the abandoned babies ravaged by AIDS in the orphanage. Nose to nose, sharing Jesus' love with a smile.

Can we outgive? Absolutely not. I may not have baby toys in a memory box to cherish. Instead, I have a photo and a memory of my youngest learning what it means to love like Jesus.

what a great photo! I think I would treasure that than all the baby toys ever! What a great testimony to the hearts of your boys (and yourself)!

How awesome. It seems all the blogs I have read today are talking about our amazing God. What a great thing to read on a day I was kind of in the slumps.

What a wonderful photo and what a wonderful opportunity for your children.

Your post today really touched me. I am now sponsoring a 3 year old girl in Honduras. I would love to meet her someday.

Sara, this completely brought tears to my eyes. Precious! I looked back on some old posts, pictures and stories. We are so very much the same. Please keep posting these pictures! Love the story where your leg went through the floor! Classic! Ha. At least it happened there and it wasn't in the middle of an African church service... completely breaking a tree limb bench (talk about embarrassing). I look forward to reading some more!

So, so sweet--I'd LOVE for you to expand this a little bit and consider having it posted on www.wearegraftedin.com. I'm looking for a piece more specific to orphan care rather than adoption. Would you "splash" around on that site and let me know what you think?

Beautiful, touching, and cuts to the heart. I have a hope and prayer that my family will do a mission to Africa one day. This inspired me that it CAN happen w/ two boys.
