Bestest Day Ever

Four generations of family gathered at our home, to celebrate Easter. The great grandparents kicked off the egg hunt walking and gathering like little kids with a twinkle in their eye. For my boys, learning new traditions of this culture while celebrating the true meaning of this joyous day. Scrumptious yummies piled high on plates, laughter of sharing family lingering in the rooms, the sound of cheers as the baseball game gets underway in the backyard. I can still hear the squeals of delight as the 5 year old grandson catches the pop fly and gets his Papa OUT! Joy wrapped up in a day. May each of our days be filled with such joy. Jesus is alive and He came that we may truly live as well.

Before Easter, we shared with our boys about many of the traditions that children in the US celebrate. Living on the mission field for their lifetimes, they simply have not experienced many of these. Just in case friends asked about the "easter bunny" they needed to know that some families celebrate this way. My 8 year old started to chuckle ... "Here they have a Santa Claus, and an easter bunny ... Do they have a giant turkey for Thanksgiving too?" His sweet comment brought a smile to my face, hope you're smiling today too.

What made you smile on Easter? Share with us a sweet memory from yesterday or Easter's past that makes Easter the bestest day ever for you!

I love His truth and precious, meaningful family traditions as we celebrate our Risen Savior! ;)

Jim read the last 3 chapters of Mark with our cherubs over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We loved that time.

On Saturday, Pop Pop had his famous Easter Egg Hunt for his grandchildren. They LOVE it! Pop Pop does an awesome job!

It was a gorgeous weather weekend here in PA to celebrate Easter!

Our day was filled with the love of Jesus - enough for us!

No need for a bunny, a man in a red suit or a big fat turkey!

Just us and the love of Jesus! SMILE!

The thing that made me smile yesterday was the sunrise service that we attended. We are away from our church on vacation. So, we attended a sunrise service at a tiny church near the campground where we are staying. They held it out in the parking lot near the cemetary. The pastor's words were simple, yet full of love for Jesus. As we looked out over the cemetary at the sun rising, he talked about how one day those graves would burst open and those precious souls would meet Jesus in the air. He said, "might it be today?" How I wish it would be today!!

Hello dear Sara :)
What made me smile on Easter?? Many things, including...
I've been praying for a friend I knew in college to know Jesus. I haven't seen her in years, but this weekend she was especially on my heart. Imagine my surprise when I bumped into her at church on Easter Sunday (her first time there!)God is so fun, isn't He?? I was smiling BIG TIME (still am!). Can't wait to see what God is up to!
Have a BLESSED week full of many fun family moments!
Cindy :)

I was already overjoyed by Easter in and of itself because of all that the Lord has done for me, but then I had a wonderful birthday week preceding it and both my adult children were in church with us along with their friends, So it was a Red letter day for us!!
Glad you had a Wonderful Easter too!
Blessings, Nellie

Sounds like fun!!!!!

My boys 'crushed' a little girl this Easter by telling her that the Easter Bunny is not real and is just made up so that peopl forget the real meaning of Easter - Jesus!

The truth hurts. xo

Just knowing that Jesus lived a life for us that we might once again know eternal life and having our relationship restored with the Father, only through the death and resurrection of Jesus. He is risen!

What could be better than Easter and family? It all sounds wonderful Sara.
I felt such joy that although we spent Easter Sunday in the rehab center with my Mom - it was still wonderful because we were all together. There was still love and laughter. There is always - Him.

Our oldest daughter, Isabelle, decided to publicly declare her faith in Jesus and tell the world she was going to follow him yesterday. She was baptized at sunrise service in the Pacific Ocean yesterday morning! What a blessed Easter! Much love to you as you make your new life in the states...

Hi Sara,

I think it is wonderful how your son laughed about the silly American traditions.

We had a wonderful family Easter brunch. It was a wet weekend; usually we have sunshine on Easter, but the cold wet weather made sitting by the fire such a delight! We don’t do the Easter bunny, but we do like to color eggs because they are just so pretty. All of us, including my husband, colored eggs together Easter morning. Later, I hid them in the yard because my youngest (10) still enjoys the hunt.

My favorite Easter treat in buying Whopper malted eggs at after Easter prices. ☺

John 11:25
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Praise the Lord for his mercy and loving kindness!
