Slosh Grace

Someone recently told me that I have a gift for being mom.  Mind you, they don't actually live with me ...  but it made me think deep.

Digging, I unearthed this gem nestled in 1 Peter 4:10

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."

Grace.  Little word.  Big power.

Viewing the role of mom, as a gift ...  shifting my thinking, twisting and turning it to align right side up.  This gift can be used, scratch that, should be used to slosh grace.

Think of the ocean.  Sitting on the beach, sand sticking everywhere, waves washing over you, over and over and over.  It never ends.  They just keep coming.  It never dries up.  Always enough.

It's not my grace.  Um, that runs dry pretty quick some days.  It's God's grace.  Whew.  His grace that washes over me, over and over and over.  It never ends.  It just keeps coming.  It never dries up.  Always enough.

As mom, I simply need to slosh His grace as it pours into my life.  Bring my kids alongside of me, invite them to sit next to me on the beach where the waves just keep coming.

Slosh grace.  Love my kids the way God loves me.

Slosh grace.  Accept them for who they are, not what they do.

Slosh grace.  Recognize their gifts and teach them to use it to do their own sloshing.

I think I just may need to print a t-shirt to help me remember.  slosh. grace.

We could use your voice added to the melody.  Slip your mom story, fave recipe, pictures of your vacation, all things gloriously mom, into the link up.  Feel free to grab the button.  I jot some momma notes each Monday ... but its a post whenever you can during the week kind of link up.  I get the filled to the brim momma schedules.

Mmmm, love the idea of "sloshing" grace. That's what I want to do today - slosh grace all over my family. :)

Sloshing Grace - love it - would wear it on a t-shirt - He shows me how to love my boys unconditionally - and like you say "who they are, not what they do" - which is such a challenging thing to do in the teen stage - sweet encouragement on Monday - thank you!!

YES!! That's something that's been stirring in my heart. Thank you for sharing it so beautifully!

It definitely is that "overflow" that we need to be "sloshing" on our children, our husbands, on everyone we meet ... because so many are thirsting for His grace, Sarah. Thanks so much for this beautiful image that you've poured down upon us today! And thanks for hosting!

Amen to God's grace never running out! I would rather slosh His grace than sloshing my own failed attempt at being gracious.

Thanks for hosting today!

{Melinda} I was just talking to a friend about this concept today ... loving our kids the way God loves us. Uncomplicated, but so hard to do. Impossible without His Holy Spirit. Thank you for the encouragement to love in a holy way.
